The Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Gjakovë, the Department for Serious Crimes has announced that today, on March 16, 2026, a murder was reported in Gjakovë.

According to a media release, it is announced that after receiving the information, all relevant police units and the Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecutor’s Office Gjakovë went to the scene.

“By decision of the State Prosecutor, the body the dead body of the victim has been sent for an autopsy to the Institute of Forensic Medicine (IML) in Pristina. The State Prosecutor has initiated a case for the criminal offense of ‘Aggravated Murder’ according to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo (KPRK),” the announcement states.

Furthermore, as stated in the announcement, in close cooperation with the Kosovo Police, all necessary actions are being taken in order to locate and arrest the suspect, who has already been identified and is under investigation.

Also, evidence is being collected and all necessary actions are being taken regarding this case.
