The tram driver is arrested after the serious accident in Sarajevo

Police in Sarajevo have arrested the tram driver after the serious accident that happened yesterday in the center of the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in which a tram derailed, resulting in one person dead and four others injured, reports Anadolu.

The driver, A.K. (1978), was arrested on suspicion of committing “serious offenses against the safety of public traffic” in connection with the criminal offense of “threatening public traffic” and is currently in the official premises of the Ministry of the Interior of the Canton of Sarajevo.

The accident occurred on Thursday around 12:00, when the tram, moving from the railway station at high speed, entered an intersection and exited derailed, hit the tram station and hit pedestrians.

23-year-old student Erdoan Moranqiq died at the scene.

Four people were injured in the accident. More serious injuries have been received by a seventeen-year-old girl, who was admitted to the hospital and had a leg amputated, while the hospital authorities confirmed that intensive treatment and resuscitation continued during the night and morning.

The investigation at the accident site lasted almost ten hours, after which the damaged tram was removed and traffic resumed. complete and punishing all those responsible for the accident, adding that after the completion of the investigations and the ascertainment of all the facts and any shortcomings, those responsible will be clearly identified.

The Prosecutor’s Office of the Canton of Sarajevo announced that it will carry out all the necessary expertise to determine the circumstances and the way this tragedy occurred.
