US President Donald Trump said today that negotiations with Iran to end joint US-Israeli attacks are progressing, but warned that the country’s essential energy infrastructure will be destroyed if the talks do not yield results soon, Anadolu reports. our wonderful country in Iran by blowing up and completely destroying all their power generating plants, oil wells and Kharg Island (and possibly all desalination plants!),” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.

Despite the warning, he said serious discussions are continuing with a new and more reasonable Iranian regime.

Iran said today that it has not engaged in direct negotiations with the US, saying that recent contacts were limited to messages transmitted through intermediaries. Regional countries have sought to broker a deal between the parties, with Pakistan’s foreign minister, Ishaq Dar, signaling that Islamabad would be willing to host talks.

On Sunday, Trump encouraged diplomatic efforts, with mediators including Pakistan, Turkey and Egypt involved in indirect contacts between Washington and Tehran. He said indirect talks through Pakistani emissaries were progressing while adding that “an agreement could be reached quite quickly”.

Many senior Iranian officials were among the 1,340 people killed in the air offensive the US and Israel launched against Iran on February 28, including former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iran has responded with drone and missile strikes that have targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq and the Gulf countries that host US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting global markets and aviation.
