At around 02:53, on August 19, 2026, on the national road Mitrovica-Prishtina, namely in the road segment in the village of Smrekovnica, a fatal traffic accident occurred.

According to the first data from the scene, the accident involved a car, in which the driver and passenger were. The same were sent for medical treatment, where the doctors found their death.

By order of the competent prosecutor, the dead bodies of the victims, men aged 22 and 24, were sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for autopsy.

The Regional Traffic Unit, in coordination and under the leadership of the competent prosecutor, is undertaking investigative actions on the circumstances and causes of the accident.
