Wide power outages were reported in several areas of Iran on Tuesday following US-Israeli airstrikes in Tehran and neighboring Alborz province, Anadolu reports.
According to state news agency IRNA, rocket attacks on Monday caused significant damage to the power grid in parts of Tehran and Alborz.
A resident of Karaj, who did not give her name, told Anadolu Agency that she had to move to her relative’s house in Gilan, northern Tehran, after the power cut.
IRNA quoted an official from Iran’s electricity authority as saying that immediately after the attack, operational teams from the electricity department were sent to the affected sites.
The teams began technical and emergency procedures to “assess, secure and reconstruct the damaged parts of the grid.” Within hours, the compromised parts of the network were stabilized and back in operation.
Monday’s bombing heavily targeted Tehran, along with other major cities including Isfahan and Tabriz, resulting in extensive damage.
According to residents, this was one of the most intense periods of bombing since the war broke out on February 28.
In Tehran, neighborhoods densely populated southern cities like Shahr-e Rey and Karaj were among the hardest hit.
The death toll from the US-Israel war against Iran, now in its 11th day, has exceeded 1,200, with more than 10,000 injured.
